- Canadian National SAR Conference (2007 SARSCENE)
- SARSCENE, an annual workshop, is Canada's only national event for all search and rescue professionals. It is an annual conference featuring presentations from Canadian and International experts, about 50 exhibits, demonstrations, games and special events. SARSCENE 2006 will be co-hosted with the Sûreté du Québec in association with the Association Québécoise des Bénévoles en Recherche et Sauvetage on October 4th-7th, 2006 in Gatineau, QC at the Hilton Lac Leamy.
- Ski Patrol Rescue Team (Heat-Pac presentation)
- The HeatPac™ (Heatpac Personal Heater HPU 33400) was developed by ITT for the Norwegian army, is marketed in Scandinavia by Alcatel STK, and is imported into the U.S. When shivering is absent in moderate to severe hypothermia, some form of external re-warming (i.e., high or moderate heat) is required. Otherwise, little or no warming will occur. The charcoal-burning HeatPac™ provides a thermal advantage when metabolic heat production is minimal, and forced-air warming also provides a warming advantage in laboratory and clinical studies. The HeatPac™ is the only field-portable device that actually delivers enough heat (100 watts of power for 8 hours) to re-warm a patient in the field.
- Icelandic Association for Search And Rescue (ICE-SAR)
- ICE-SAR has about 100 rescue teams, located throughout Iceland. They comprise over 4,000 volunteers who are always on standby for emergencies. The rescue teams are specialized in search and rescue both on land and at sea. To see to diverse tasks, the rescue teams are well educated in their fields and thoroughly trained. They strive to outfit their people to the highest standard, with both personal gear and expensive rescue equipment like cars, snowmobiles and boats. In recent years, specialization within rescue teams has increased, making the work more purposeful: land groups, sea groups, diving groups, advance groups, high angle rescue groups, search dog groups, etc. Also working within the association is a rescue team for international projects, co-operating with rescue teams in other countries, for example, when major earthquakes occur, as in Turkey in 1999.
