Public Open House

Emergency Preparedness

Bring your group to the King County Fairgrounds in Enumclaw on May 20th, between 11 AM and 3 PM, to explore how the State of Washington prepares for emergencies. This public open house is part of the 2006 Washington State Search And Rescue Conference. See and experience a wide variety of safety-related demonstrations and activities. A five dollar donation is being asked for adults 18 years of age and older, youths up to 17 years of age are free. Activities include

• See helicopters and other aircraft used in search and rescue.
• Watch a vehicle rescue by Rescue One, and Enumclaw Fire Department volunteers.
• Follow Northwest Disaster Search Dogs as they demonstrate how specially trained dogs are used in searching for lost and trapped people.
• Learn how Northwest Horseback Search And Rescue help with locating and rescuing people injured or lost in our wilderness areas.
• Witness a demonstration of vertical roped rescue techniques by Seattle Mountain Rescue.
• Practice life saving first aid with Seattle/King County chapter of the American Red Cross
• Find out what to do if you're ever lost or injured.
