Swiftwater Rescue Techniques for SAR Managers

Class Description

Presented by Paul Green.

This session will review swiftwater techniques for the SAR manager in order to effectively direct a water rescue. Techniques, leadership and decision-making options are critical to a SAR manager because swiftwater incidents can be deadly to the victim and the rescue personnel who respond. This is a fast paced, exciting session with several ugly case studies to evaluate.

Dr. Green is a Professor of outdoor recreation at Eastern Washington University where he teaches outdoor adventure activities including whitewater rafting, search and rescue management and swiftwater rescue. He is a senior associate with Emergency Response International (ERI). His web site is outdoor-experts.com.
